Welcome to Smart Plumbers Limited!
On 1st April 2021 Britain’s largest energy supplier handed dismissal notices to thousands of its Gas engineers who served over 9 million customers. Engineers were granted a decision period of 14 days. in which to change their minds and sign contracts that demanded longer hours together with shifts over weekends and bank holidays at no extra pay – or lose their jobs.
In them two weeks, hundreds of engineers signed up to the contracts, leaving around 500 having refused to sign. The end of the decision period was expected to draw a line on the 9 month battle between British Gas executives and trade union representatives at GMB.
This is when Smart Plumbers Limited was born. A group of Ex Gas board engineers decided to take a step into creating a company of their own since the drastic fall in British Gas services.
With a combined 35 years of experience in the Plumbing & heating sector & home emergency services, we fused our expertise together & formed Smartplumbers, a company specialising in all aspects of Plumbing & heating services with a 24 hour emergency response team of plumbers, gas engineers & customer service representatives covering the North of England.
